Salvia plants.
Salvia divinorum plants and cuttings.
Salvia divinorum - also known as `diviner's sage`, `sally`, `maria pastora`,`salvia`,etc, is a psychoactive plant.
Salvia divinorum is a member of the `sage` genus and the `Mint` family (Lamiaceae).
The plant is grown on the Oaxaca mountains of southern Mexico in isolated, humid conditions.
The indigenous people, the `Mazatec` indians have used salvia for centuries and their highly regarded shamans
use it for healing and spiritual journeys.
Unlike many other sages, Salvia divinorum produces very few seeds. The seeds it does produce very rarely germinate.
It is propagated by cuttings and by falling over and growing new roots and dividing. It appears to have very little
histocompatibility variation, so the pollen from a plant genetically identical to the style fails to reach the ovule.
Although it is reported that isolated plants of Salvia divinorum exist in its native range, these are thought to
of been purposefully propagated and tended by the local people. This is why Salvia divinorum is considered a true
cultivar and most are of the opinion it no longer occurs naturally in the wild.
The fate of the species lies with the offspring of the original clone plants.
Of these few clones, there are only two that are in any kind of public circulation;
The Wasson/Hofmann strain - discovered by Wasson/Hofmann when visiting the Mazatecs.
The Blosser ("Palatable") strain - discovered by Blosser in Oaxaca.
The Blosser strain is also called "Palatable" by some, as it is said to have more palatable leaves when ingested
orally than those of the Wasson/Hofmann strain. Other people are of the opinion that there is little difference
between the plants.
Other varieties are also grown, including the Luna strain which is a strange offshoot of the Hofmann/Wasson line.
A few other strains exist, but they are mostly quite similar, in potency, effect, and growth.
An easy plant to grow. Just keep them moist and humid. Please inspect your plant through the clear
blister packaging on arrival as we can only exchange unopened plant packs.
